How to Make a Styrofoam Kid's House
Many of the products that we buy have Styrofoam used in their insulation and packaging. We also buy Styrofoam cups and plates. Styrofoam can be considered a hazardous waste after it has been thrown away and many recycling companies will not accept Styrofoam. Therefore, the material is filling up our landfills. It is a good idea to recycle your own Styrofoam and use it with arts and crafts. One fun way that you can use Styrofoam is to make a kid's house.

1
Determine the measurements of your kid's house and make sure you have enough Styrofoam to build it. The best sort of Styrofoam to use when building a kid's house is a thick kind that is either rectangular or square shaped. Lay the Styrofoam pieces on the floor and arrange them into the wall shapes of the kid's house. Also, arrange some of the Styrofoam into the shape of the kid's house floor and ceiling. This will help you make each of them the correct size and also let you to know if you need more Styrofoam to build the kid's house.

2
Build the floor of the kid's house. If your kid's house is going to be wider than the doorway, then make sure you are building it in the area that you want the kid's house to remain. Assemble the Styrofoam pieces into the shape of the kid's house floor. It is a bad idea to use nails while building a Styrofoam kid's house because the Styrofoam can tear apart easily and your child might get hurt on the nails. Instead, use strong tape or glue to hold the pieces together.

3
Build the walls of your kid's house. Use plenty of tape or glue to hold them in place. Add multiple layers of Styrofoam to make the walls even sturdier if desired. Add windows to the kid's house if you want.

4
Build the roof of your kid's house. Assemble it into the shape of an arch or make it flat. Attach the Styrofoam pieces together with an ample amount of tape or glue to keep the house from collapsing.

5
Decorate the kid's house however you want. Paint it, add rugs, hang wall decorations and/or hang curtains if the kid's house has windows.
